Who sends these messages
Trentin Colson builds and operates text messaging systems on behalf of local businesses in Kentucky. When you receive a message under this program, it is sent on behalf of a specific business that you contacted — a roofer, a plumber, a shop — and every message identifies that business by name in its first sentence.
Each business is separately registered with the mobile carriers under its own legal name before any message is sent.
How you come to receive messages
You will only receive messages if you did one of the following. There is no list, nothing is purchased, and nobody is added without doing one of these things:
- You called the business and gave consent on that call. When you call, an automated greeting explains that if the business misses your call they can text you about your enquiry, and asks you to press 1 to agree. Your consent is recorded against that call. If you do not press 1, your call is still connected exactly the same way, and you receive no text messages.
- You filled in a contact form on the business's website and ticked the box agreeing to be contacted by text about your enquiry. The box is not ticked for you.
Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of buying anything, and is never required to get service from the business.
What the messages are about
Messages relate to your enquiry or a service you received, within the consent you gave. Depending on the business’s setup, these can include:
- A message when the business missed your call, so you are not left waiting
- An acknowledgement that your form was received
- A reply written or approved by a person at that business
- Where separately enabled and covered by your consent, a request for an honest review after a completed job, with at most one follow-up
- A confirmation when you opt out
These are not marketing or promotional messages. You will not receive offers, sales, or newsletters through this program.
How often
Message frequency varies and depends entirely on your own conversation with the business. Most people receive between one and five messages in total. There is no recurring or scheduled campaign. A review request is sent at most once per job, with at most one follow-up, and never again once you have replied.
How to stop
Reply STOP to any message. You will get one confirmation and then nothing further. The following also work: STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, REVOKE, OPTOUT, and OPT OUT.
Opting out is immediate and applies to any message already waiting to be sent. Opting out from one business does not opt you out from a different business, and one business can never see another business's opt-out list.
Business messages sent by these systems carry "Reply STOP to opt out". Carrier-managed messages, including the opt-out confirmation, may use different wording.
